If you spend time writing articles for publication in the various article directories and blogs, maybe even a blog of your own, you will want to pay a bit of attention to the quality of the article you produce. You will need to pay attention to total quality management.
The first total quality management item you will want to address for article content quality improvement is the value of the subject to your readers. You will want to be sure you are writing on a topic of general interest that will be attractive to a fairly broad audience. Let's face it, if you don't command attention to your subject it really does not matter how much attention you pay to total quality management. So, before you put pen to paper, do a little research into the interest levels.
The next thing to consider for article content quality improvement is your writing style. Here you will need to give some thought and consideration to who is your average or typical reader. This will vary by the type of article and subject being written. This is an important total quality management item as you will want to somewhat adjust your style to your audience. I would not use the same style for a group of college professors that I would for high school students, as an example.
An obvious part of article content quality improvement is spelling and punctuation. This is pretty easy to keep correct since we all use spelling checkers and applications to confirm correct punctuation. Having said that, some people apparently don't bother to use them since I see a surprisingly large number of errors in both spelling and punctuation. There is really no excuse for those types of errors and it really reflects poorly on the author. This area of total quality management is so important that I use a live proofreader for some of my work.
While the importance of spelling and punctuation should be fairly obvious, paying proper attention to grammar is not quite so obvious, and honestly, not as important as the other two. While I am not recommending a writer be reckless is the area of grammar, I am suggesting that while it is important, its not quite as important as spelling and punctuation. Readers don't seem quite as offended by improper grammar. I suspect this has something to do with the wide use of various provincial slang. If you are really good and paying attention you know I made a grammatical error in that last sentence.
The final item to be addressed in this article is the use of keywords. It is recommended that you use at least one long-tail keyword phrase and two or three short keyword phrases. Get as many as possible in your first paragraph without making it sound weird. Then get one to two percent total keywords to total words throughout the rest of your article. If you spend a couple of minutes on this article you will be able to pick out my keywords.
In any event, if you will concentrate on just these article content quality improvement items you will begin to see an increase in your article quality, and probably in increase in readership of your articles posted to the various article directories.
